reDIP CIA MOS 6526/8521 Modern FPGA CIA Replacement Chips

Available Now at :  ToTs RETRO

reDIP CIA MOS 6526/8521 has been tested with a Commodore 64, Commodore 64c, SX-64, Commodore 128, Commodore 1570 and1571 Floppy Drive, BackBit Chip Tester Pro.  It has been tested by myself and other members of the elite Commodore Retro Community, and finally is now available for you here.

The reDIP CIA is an open source FPGA board created by: Dag Lem a prominent coder in the Retro Commodore Community who's work is also featured in VICE 64 emulator.  This chip combines the following in a DIP-40 Package.

  • Lattice iCE5LP1K-FPGA
  • 1 Mbit FLASH
  • 5v tolerant I/O
  • Low Power Consumption
  • Custom Configurable MOS 6526 or MOS 8521 with Commodore 64 and now Commodore 128 native, CIA Config Prg (available for download at time of purchase), or you can send an email to info@totsrc.com to request a copy via email. I generally leave mine set at 8521, which is the default setting.

The reDIP CIA Provides an open source hardware platform for MOS 6526/8521 CIA Replacements.

  • The board is fully pin compatible with the venerable MOS 6526/8521
  • Cycle Accurate emulation of the MOS 6526/8521 has been implemented
  • Gateware implementation made possible by Frank "androSID" Wolf and Dieter "ttlworks" Müller
