Commodore 1581 Dual 3.5" Disk Drive, PC Style with Alternate Power Select and 2amp Power Supply Included.  Use the included easily available power supply or flip a switch and use a custom Commodore Power Supply (2 amp recommended ,not included), the Choice is yours. 

This unit runs off a special 2 amp electronic 7805 type switching voltage regulator which is 85 to 90% energy efficient, which means... NO HEAT allowing for super cool operation.  Each Drive pulls about .75 amps, together 1.5amps max, well under the 2 amps.  

As chips get harder and harder to procure, I will be including updated modern replacements. Like the new VR-177x from vRETRO, It is a new modern replacement for the WD1770 chip, which of course runs super efficient and has been shown to be 100% compatible.  If you would like to purchase this chip for your owns drives, It is also available for purchase separately HERE.  

As modern chips become available I will use those as replacements, helping to assure your investment will last you a very long time.

Comes with a Switching 9v 2 Amp power supply, No serial Cables are included, you must supply your own.  Warranty covers all components inside the disk drive. Does not cover damage from falling, dropping  , water or flooding, improper use or over voltage from poor PSU.  I recommend you use a new verified power supply That can handle at least 1.5-2amps.  All components have been tested and working great before they ship to you. The 1581 Dual Drive is ready for use out of the box.  Drive will be preconfigured 8 and 9 respectfully.
